Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine, and is a fantastic way to take a look at those upcoming releases we can't wait to read. I know I like to track certain authors to see what is being released in the next year, and I am always on the lookout for exciting new books to read (and it doesn't matter how big that TBR pile is). Here are a couple I am looking forward to reading:
Death of a Chimney Sweep (Hamish MacBeth, Book 27)
by M.C. Beaton
Release Date: February 25, 2011
In the south of Scotland, residents get their chimneys vacuum-cleaned. But in the isolated villages in the very north of Scotland, the villagers rely on the services of the itinerant sweep, Pete Ray, and his old-fashioned brushes. Pete is always able to find work in the Scottish highlands, until one day when Police Constable Hamish Macbeth notices blood dripping onto the floor of a villager's fireplace, and a dead body stuffed inside the chimney. The entire town of Lochdubh is certain Pete is the culprit, but Hamish doesn't believe that the affable chimney sweep is capable of committing murder. Then Pete's body is found on the Scottish moors, and the mystery deepens. Once again, it's up to Hamish to discover who's responsible for the dirty deed--and this time, the murderer may be closer than he realizes.
I love this series and am looking forward to the next installment in Hamish's life!
Deadly Little Games (Touch, Book 3)
by Laurie Faria Stolarz
Release Date: January 4, 2011
Camelia and Ben have discovered a powerful bond: They both possess the power of psychometry, the ability to sense things through touch. For Ben, the gift is a frightening liability. When he senses a strong threat or betrayal, he risks losing control and hurting people. Camelia's gift is more mysterious. When she works with clay, her hands sculpt messages her mind doesn't yet comprehend.
Before either teen has a chance to fully grasp these abilities, an unresolved family tragedy resurfaces in Camelia's life, irrevocably changing everything she cares about...

ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of the Touch books before but I've heard they're really good I'll have to add them to my list. Great picks!
ReplyDeleteI hope when you get your books, they are everything you hope them to be. Check out what I am Waiting On Wednesday for.

At a time when most people have grown weary of the war between the states, two young children are desperate to find their way to the battlefields. Jeremy DeGroot wants nothing more than to join a troop as a drummer boy. For Dulcie, a runaway slave, freedom means she must head directly toward the fighting in the hopes that she'll become "contraband," that is, property of the Union troops. Both Jeremy and Dulcie find a place with the 107th New York Volunteer Regiment and even start to forge a friendship. But all that is threatened when they keep crossing paths with the mysterious Charlie, a young Confederate soldier, who may look like the enemy but feels more like a friend.
