I Love Mondays!!!

It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

It has been such an interesting week, and a very busy one too.  Last weekend we went to the trailer and it pretty much rained all weekend, rain that I have not really seen all summer long.  I didn't mind too much as I actually got a lot of reading done for a change.  It was pretty shocking to the system though, with the temperature change, and having to use the furnace for the first time all summer or we would have frozen.  We had to drive around looking for a propane filling station (try doing that on a long weekend when the temperature suddenly dips, lol!) and it took us about four stations before we found one.  The hydro was also off so that didn't help either.  Our fault for not making sure the propane tanks were full though.  OOPS!

Back to school posed another challenge in our household.  I am a teacher, so I had face the mental challenge of psyching myself to go back to work after two lovely months off with my kiddies (yes, I know I am spoiled, but it was such a nice summer!!!).  My classes are so wonderful this semester though, that I am looking forward to teaching them.  I just hate getting up at 5:30 each morning as I am definitely not a morning person.  Luckily, I still have camping to look forward to until Thanksgiving when everything shuts down until spring.  And my hubby and I bought a new trailer this weekend so we are looking forward to moving into that, a new 42' park model.  I can't wait!!!  For you die-hard campers out there, I realize what I do can no longer be classified as camping, but I was a hard-core wilderness camper and canoe tripper for years and I love my creature comforts nowadays.  I didn't step foot into a trailer until four years ago when we went camping with friends and took a look at their trailer, with a nice toilet in it, and I was hooked.  No more going pee in the bush for me!!

This weekly meme, hosted by Sheila @ Book Journey, discusses what we read last week, what we are currently reading, and what we plan on reading.  It's a good way to get organized and think about that huge TBR pile that needs tackling.  It's also a great way to meet new people and find out some great information about books you may not have heard about.  Go check out some other blogs and have fun!

What I Read This Week:

The Thyssen Affair by Mozelle Richardson - A fast-paced thriller with some interesting twists.
Extraordinary by Nancy Werlin - It was interesting, but not quite what I expected.  I was a little disappointed.

What I Am Currently Reading:

The Geneva Deception by James Twining -  Love this book so far!!
Jealousy by Lili St. Crow - Interesting so far, and it's finally starting to pick up, with a good girl butt-kicking scene.  I love strong female characters!

On Deck for Next Week:

The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova
Within My Heart by Tamera Alexander

What have you been reading?  I would love to know!

  1. I've heard quite a few people saying that they were a bit disappointed with Extraordinary. Unfortunate to hear that it doesn't live up to expectations (and it has such a gorgeous cover, too!)

  2. Wow, the furnace already? We only just were able to turn off the a/c this past week for the first time all summer!

I love camping, too. We have a pop-up now - gave up on tent camping the first camping trip after my second son was born - 4 month old baby, broken tent zippers, terrible weather...you get the picture! I'm sure we'll trade up someday after the boys are grown.

I'm in the middle of The 19th Wife right now for book group and enjoying it more than I expected to!

Have a good first week back at school -

    Sue

  3. I would need all the bells and whistles to camp! I am still debating about the read-a-long for The Historian.

  4. I love indoor plumbing too much to be die-hard camper. A 42' trailer sounds lovely! :)

Sorry to hear that Extraordinary was disappointing. Glad to hear you are enjoying Jealousy. It is on my TBR list. Hope you have a great week! :)
